Well the show of Politics and Mecha is back and things aren’t as well as we were left with at the end of Season 1.
The first episode revolves around a Titan-esque group called A-Laws or Arrows, not sure on this ‘un. Which has the sole purpose of dealing with terroist groups like Celestial Being (Aeug) and the new Kataron (Karaba) Please excuse the Zeta reference I just can’t help but draw the comparisons between the two.
Upgrade!?
All our favourite cast are back except Lock-ON of course, we have Saji who’s still working in space, Louise is an A-Laws pilot, Setsuna is a random rebel and Tierria is with good old CB, with Allelujah locked away somewhere.
Sergei and useless newtype experiment #1589 now live together and it turns out he has a son, begin fan artists interpretation of the mother.
Finally a suit with a decent colour scheme
Louise has had her hand reattached and has degenerated into a nervous wreck, me thinks she been drug enhanced or something of the sort and hasn’t got complete control of everything yet, that or she just FREAKED out after her ICHIBAN Kill!
Her hand is back – Luke Skywalker Style
Saji is still a whiny twat though for a good 15 minutes he appears to have grown up, but that soon changes the second he is forced to work slave labour in high gravity and then destroyed when he sees the Exia (in it’s battered state).
Bandit Exia
In any case, the first episode is great. I can’t say that that’s unexpected since the first season had an awesome start too. I want to believe that this is a sign of improvement from the ending of the last season, and that this season will finally be awesome now that everyone’s grown up and not so whiny. I really want to believe it, but unfortunately Sunrise made a cynic out of me with the false hopes it’s been giving me over the years.
Well at least Felt is still in it
Of course, I may be proven wrong. Perhaps the forgettable first season was intentionally meant to be an awful prelude, so as to accentuate the awesomeness that will be season two. Maybe now that the main characters are all grown up, both literally and figuratively, the real story behind this boy-love franchise can finally take its ultimate shape. I want to believe, but let’s not.
