Seedbox’s

Are they the birth of a new way of downloading torrents, or death to torrent sharing.

So I bring this up as I got my hands on a server trial with Gandi, as they are offering trials of there servers, you basically get 1 share for 1 month, which for me was enough to run a seedbox, just as I thought it would be nice to DL some torrents at a decent speed as for some reason that just doesn’t happen on my PC, I blame my ISP for this.

So what are your opinions on seedbox’s. For those who don’t know a seedbox is a torrent program run on a server as this gets better download speeds and it becomes less inconvenient to seed to a few hundred % as you can leave it on all the time, when you may need to turn your computer off otherwise. So I see a lot of people frown upon seedbox’s and to be honest I can’t understand why, I have been running mine for just over a week now and have downloaded roughly 18GB of anime with it, of which I seeded all to at least a 1:1 ratio, some of the more active ones I got all the way to a 1.5 – 2:1 ratio.

Obviously a lot of people will leech using them, but is that really any different than using a home computer and doing a hit and run on that, it may take a bit longer for that download to finish on a home connection but the end result is the same. So why do people not like them? As you can see I am at a loss, I can understand while you would feel cheated as some people are paying to get torrents a bit faster but surely that is their choice.

I bring this up as I have been seriously considering offering my seedbox for use, you know for a small fee, which would help pay for it, you would get all the benefits. So again I ask what do you think? and if I did offer my seedbox for say $6-10 a month who would be interested in using it? You would have access to uploading any torrents you want, (no porn though) and would be able to download any series on the server at the time, not just what you download obviously you would be responsible for seeding your torrents to at least a 1:1 ratio.
