According to Oricon Biz, sales of Anime and Live Action increased 14% in the first half of 2010, compared with the year-earlier period. The Blu-ray sales by copies have risen 2.5 times while the DVD sales dropped by 2.9%.
Anime and Live Action releases make up almost 50.6% of the Blu-ray market. It’s great that anime series like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya are getting a Blu-ray Box release, with English subtitles – we no longer have to worry about not understanding the language now. All the more reason we have to purchase and to support the industry.
