Well this season is well underway but are this season’s shows just the same old drag or something entirely new. In this post I will look at Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi, Occult Gakuin, Seitokai Yaukidomo, Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu and High School of the Dead.
So lets start with Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi:
Firstly I have to admit watching Toradora at the same time is not helping here since Ookami-san to me is Toradora for those who don’t have a fetish for short girls and overly-evil looking men and instead prefer their men weak and their women strong with never ending legs. I say this bus I have enjoyed the first two episodes, more recently I have taken to these slice of life romance hybrid genre animu and Ookami does it for me this season as violence, maids, sinister bosses (I’m sure that ‘butler’ is up to something) tall Taiga and captain pansy are quite amusing to watch every week. My bets are that Morino is an extremely skilled fighter when he wants to be and that this will be what changes Ookami’s mind.
Next up is Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin:
I picked this up due to the strong response I saw going through Twitter, normally I keep anything related to the occult at the end of a very long barge pole, even though it interests me as a whole, it’s just hard to avoid the scams so I’ll let it come to me. But yes the first episode was enjoyable. I like that they aren’t doing the whole ‘research the occult’ thing and instead are just assuming it’s real and better yet they jumped straight into the action and what’s more TIME TRAVEL FUTURE OCCULT NAKEDNESS but what is the mystery that is still lying in the shadows, this is something I am eager to find out, another plus for the series a mystery that I want to go back to. I think the vice-principle is planning whatever caused #6 to come back in time.
Right so Seitokai Yakuindomo, 4koma style Kaichou wa Maid-sama rip-off but reversed nuff-said. Will watch as it is teh funnez.
Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu:
I don’t think I have ever seen such a dis-jointed first episode, or at least not one I care to remember. All I know is Ancient Heroes, Alpha Stigma, quest for heroes relics, which so far seem to be rejected Gundam mecha designs, evil manipulative king, forgotten classmate with unrequited love and a war that will quite possibly be re-ignited in about 2 episodes. Also why did no one come to find out why a mountain was A: firing lasers and B: being obliterated by the Memento Mori???? As I said on Twitter someone care to explain.
HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD:
yes, Yes and YES. I am a huge fan of zombie horror flicks and all the more so when the reach military intervention scale as lets be honest story not required just mindless (pun not intended) carnage and lots of it, which the first episode did not fail to deliver. The only little annoyance is this ‘Rei’ character, ‘I want to die with my bf’ grrr do you hate your life that much? That one line splits me two ways. One let her if she wants to and the other make sure she survives and suffers from survivors guilt.

I am somewhat interested in High School of the Dead, but I am mainly wondering how the fan service is supposed to be included lol.
I really want to see Sengoku Basara 2, which I have seen no one mention that on their watch list. I loved the first season of that series. There are a few others, but I am still trying to catch up with the last season =P
I didn’t watch the first series of Basara so I won’t be picking up round 2 until then.
As for the fan service, there wasn’t really much in the first episode, but if the opening is anything to go by it’s all to come.
Ah I see, I will watch the first episode today to get a better idea about the series. I really want to sit down and marathon Strike Witches 1, so I can start watching the 2nd season.
HOTD was immense! cannot wait for ep2. Just watched Occult Academy and think the first episode earned it a viewing of episode 2. Oh also did you notice the music from 28 days later at the end of HOTD?
I thought it sounded familiar so that explains that.
